For the "Best Weddings in History"

We are so pleased that you are considering Sulgrave Manor as a venue for your very special day.

We can offer you a day tailored to your wishes and would be pleased to discuss your needs and requirements.

A Civil Marriage or Commitment ceremony may be held in the wonderful atmosphere of the Great Hall of the Manor, which dates back to the time of Henry VIII.

Your reception would take place in our Courtyard Hall which was designed and built to complement the Tudor style of the Manor with its superb oak beams and timbered gallery.

The backdrop of the house and the beautiful gardens offer the perfect setting for your photographs.

In all, the ideal place for you, your family and your friends to enjoy the 'best wedding in history'.

We look forward to welcoming you to Sulgrave Manor and discussing the details of your day.

Please telephone 01295 760205 if you would like to make an appointment.

Wedding Ceremonies

You may be planning a Church Wedding, in which case we would be pleased to welcome you, after the ceremony, at Sulgrave Manor for your Reception and/or evening celebrations.

The Civil Marriage Ceremony

Sulgrave Manor is licensed for Civil Marriage and Commitment ceremonies. The Great Hall of the Manor House is arranged to produce a warmly formal atmosphere. The ceremony takes place at the great board with up to 75 guests seated on both sides of the "aisle" The room is also candle-lit.

We are willing to provisionally hold a date until a firm booking has been made with the Registrar.

It is the responsibility of the couple intending to marry to book the Registrar of Marriages. Sulgrave Manor comes under the Towcester & Brackley Registration District, and weddings are administered by the Towcester office, details as follows:

TOWCESTER REGISTER OFFICE
55 BRACKLEY ROAD
TOWCESTER
NORTHANTS
NN12 6DH

Tel: 01327 350774

The Superintendent Registrar will advise you on all aspects of a Civil Marriage Ceremony that takes place in approved premises.

Wedding Receptions

Wedding receptions at Sulgrave Manor take place in the modern Courtyard Hall - a beautiful timbered and galleried hall opening on to a terrace leading to the gardens.

Seating for up to 100 is on round tables with a long 'top' table if required. A link marquee can be placed on the terrace to allow an additional seating area for 40 guests. The additional cost for this will vary according to your requirements.

Many couples have fewer than 100 guests for the ceremony and formal reception with up to 50 other friends joining them for the evening celebrations - there is no need for a marquee if the evening is to be an informal disco or dance as up to 150 guests can be in the Courtyard Hall if not seated at tables.

Sulgrave Manor has licenses for liquor and public entertainment and, of course, to cover public liability insurance.

As the Manor is set in the heart of a quiet village, it has been agreed that all functions must end at 11.00pm for an 11.30pm finish and we regret that fireworks are not permitted.

The facility fees shown for wedding receptions include the use of the Manor's furniture, crockery, cutlery and glassware for up to 100 guests.

Any additional equipment needed in excess of 100 guests, will be hired and charged at the standard hire rate. The fees do not include table linen, flowers, food and drink, photography or entertainment. Some caterers provide table linen, but if not, we can discuss your requirements and hire in the linen for you again at the standard hire rate.

Food and Drink - Flowers & Festivities

Food

Catering is not included in the facility fee as we believe you should have the choice of which caterers you wish to use and what food you would like. You will find in this pack a list of contacts that include caterers, and other people who we know we can trust to do a good job at a fair price.

Drinks

Almost uniquely, Sulgrave Manor lets you supply your own drinks, champagne, wine etc. to follow the ceremony and with your meal with no corkage charge levied. This is a real opportunity to save significant sums of money. However, we only permit professionally organized evening bars here, and we therefore ask that if you intend having a bar in the evening you contact Richard White of North Oxfordshire Wine to organize this for you. Should you prefer, Richard will be pleased to supply all the drink element of your day.

Flowers

If you are holding your marriage ceremony in the Great Hall, you may want to think about flowers for there, which we are happy to move to the Courtyard Hall to be part of your reception once the ceremony is over. In keeping with the Manor, we put little bags of dried flower petals around the Great Hall for your guests to use as confetti in the garden.
We can suggest floral designers or you are able to use people you already know. Because our beautiful Courtyard Hall is classic and neutral, it accommodates any theme from rustic, harvest style autumn weddings to light and pretty blossomed spring ones, richly coloured and berried winter weddings to very contemporary bright summer ones.

Festivities, Music & Entertainment

Many couples have CD's playing as guests enter the Hall for the marriage ceremony and as they leave, with perhaps a 'special' piece of music playing whilst signing the register. Some have a classical guitarist or a harp player- we can give your contacts for these, and some have family members who sing or play an instrument. The choice is yours.

For the evening, you can arrange a disco or live music, be it a barn dance or ceilidh, a jazz band or a 'covers' band.
