A warm welcome from Wyndebagge |
The Lord and Lady of the Manor, Lawrence and Amy Washington,
the ancestors of the first President of the United States,
are pleased to invite you into their home at this festive
season.
You will be welcomed by their minstrel, Wyndebagge who
will entertain you with music and song while you enjoy
a glass of mull and a mince pie.
The Lord or the Lady will greet you in the Great Hall
and explain their Yuletide experience: Boy Bishops,
the Lord of Misrule, familiar to the Lord and Lady but
to us lost in the midst of time. The Hall is decorated
in the traditional way with the evergreens of England,
the Yule Log and the Kissing Bough, glowing with candles
and warm from the log fire burning in the grate.
Then you will go down to the kitchen, always the busiest
place in the house where the Cook will tell you about
the food she's preparing for the great feast.
After a wander around the rest of the house and maybe
a visit to the Buttery for some refreshing fare yourself,
you'll be ready to agree that...
